From My Garden to Your Skin

Garden-Grown Ingredients: From My Garden to Your Skin

At Bode Bars, soap making starts long before the oils are measured and the molds are poured.

It starts in the garden.

One of the things that makes Bode Bars unique is that many of the botanicals used throughout our products are organically grown, harvested, and infused right here at home in Lakeland, Florida. Gardening has always been a passion of mine, and over time it naturally became part of my soap-making journey.

Rather than relying solely on pre-made ingredients, I grow and harvest many of the herbs, flowers, and plants that inspire my recipes. From rosemary and lavender to aloe, chamomile, mint, calendula, hibiscus, and lemongrass, these garden-grown ingredients often find their way into our products through herbal infusions, botanical teas, infused oils, and specialty recipes.

Why Garden-Grown Ingredients Matter

Fresh botanicals allow me to create products that feel connected to nature and rooted in traditional skincare practices.

For generations, herbs and flowers have been infused into oils, salves, soaps, and skincare products. I love carrying on that tradition by growing many of these ingredients myself and incorporating them into products my family uses every day.

When you purchase from Bode Bars, you're not just buying handcrafted soap. You're supporting a small business that combines organic gardening, traditional soap making, and family craftsmanship.

Herbs and Botanicals We Frequently Grow

Rosemary

A garden favorite that appears throughout many of our products, including shampoo bars and herbal infusions. Rosemary is known for its fresh, invigorating aroma and long history in hair and skincare.

Lavender

One of the most beloved herbs in both gardening and skincare. Lavender adds a beautiful floral aroma and is often associated with relaxation and self-care.

Chamomile

A gentle botanical that has been used for centuries in teas, skincare, and wellness products. Chamomile is one of my favorite ingredients for products designed to feel comforting and soothing.

Aloe Vera

Harvested directly from our garden and used in select facial and skincare products. Aloe has long been valued for its cooling, refreshing feel on the skin.

Mint

Fresh, cooling, and invigorating. Mint adds an uplifting character to many products and is a favorite ingredient for refreshing shower experiences.

Calendula

Known for its bright golden petals, calendula has been used in traditional herbal skincare for generations and is commonly infused into oils and botanical preparations.

Lemongrass

A vibrant herb with a fresh citrus aroma. Lemongrass helps create bright, uplifting scent profiles and is one of my favorite garden plants.

Hibiscus

Prized for its beautiful color and botanical properties, hibiscus adds both visual beauty and garden-inspired character to handcrafted products.

Essential Oils and Botanical Infusions

While many of our signature scents come from carefully selected essential oils, I also love creating infused oils and botanical preparations using ingredients grown in my own garden.

This combination allows me to blend the best of both worlds: high-quality essential oils and homegrown botanicals inspired by nature.

Some ingredients are chosen for their scent. Others are chosen for their history in traditional skincare. Many are chosen simply because they help create products that feel special to use.

More Than Soap

Bode Bars was built around three things I love: family, gardening, and creating products that people genuinely enjoy using.

Some of my favorite memories are harvesting herbs with my daughters, preparing infusions, testing recipes, and creating products together. What started as a search for a better soap became a way to combine everything I love into one business.

From my garden to your skin, every product is made with care, intention, and a deep appreciation for the ingredients that nature provides.

Handcrafted in small batches by a mother and her daughters in Lakeland, Florida.
